User guide
Start
Click the Annotator icon or press Alt+Shift+J on a page. The toolbar appears. Press it again to hide it. On the first use on a site, and after a browser restart, you need this one click: Jambu has no access to a page until you ask.
The label on the left of the toolbar shows the mode. Browsing means the page works as usual. Annotating means a tool is active.
Tools
Single-letter shortcuts work while a tool is active or the toolbar has focus. While browsing, the page keeps all its keys.
| Key | Tool | Use |
|---|---|---|
| V | Navigate | Back to browsing |
| T | Comment on text | Select text; the comment box opens |
| E | Comment on element | Hover, click. Arrow up/down climbs the tree, Enter picks |
| P, H | Pen, highlighter | Draw freely |
| L, A | Line, arrow | Drag |
| R, O | Rectangle, ellipse | Drag |
| M | Numbered marker | Click, then comment |
| S | Select | Click a drawing to move, resize, recolor, comment |
| X | Delete drawings | Click or drag across drawings |
| G | Region | Drag an area to capture |
Also: Ctrl/Cmd+Z undo, Ctrl/Cmd+Shift+Z redo, Delete removes the selected drawing, Esc cancels the current step, then returns to browsing. Ctrl/Cmd+Enter saves a comment.
Scrolling keeps working while you draw. Drag the dots at the left of the toolbar to move it, or focus them and use the arrow keys.
Your annotations
The list button shows the annotations on this page. Click one to jump to it; use its buttons to edit or delete.
Two labels matter:
- Not found on page: the target is gone or changed. Jambu keeps your note and does not guess where it belongs. It reattaches by itself if the content returns.
- Position from capture: the element under a drawing is gone, so the drawing sits where you made it, dashed.
Sessions
A session groups feedback across pages. It continues across reloads and restarts. Start a new one from the list panel. All sessions and settings opens the sessions page, where you can review, continue, export, import and delete.
Screenshots
The camera button offers the viewport with annotations, a clean viewport, or a dragged region. The toolbar never appears in the image. Full-page capture is not available: it would have to scroll your page, and that breaks on fixed, lazy-loaded and virtualized content. Take several shots instead.
Export
Open the export panel and pick a format. The preview shows exactly what you get.
| Format | Best for |
|---|---|
| For AI | Pasting into a coding assistant. Your words are kept verbatim |
| Comments | A short list for a person |
| Full context | Page content as Markdown, with your notes in place |
| Visual | Comments linked to named screenshots |
| Package | A ZIP with Markdown, JSON and images |
For an AI assistant: Copy Markdown, paste, then attach images. To send several images, use Copy image 1/N and paste one at a time, or attach the files from the package. A clipboard holds one image at a time, and each app decides what it accepts from a paste.
On pages without HTTPS, images can’t be copied from the page. Copy them from the sessions page, or download them.
Your data
Everything stays in this browser profile. Removing the extension deletes it. Export a package to keep a copy.
